Downtown Historic District
While not actively working new projects in downtown Houston, the DHD is a non-profit organization, founded in 1992, that has served as an advocate for the redevelopment and preservation of an area that is an important part of Houston and Texas history. The DHD has worked to build a vibrant, hospitable and diverse neighborhood with a balance of residential, commercial, and arts and entertainment interests. Economic development and historic preservation are the twin foundations from which DHD's programs were developed. Working with building owners, retail establishments, residents and interested citizens the DHD's focus has been on business promotion, parking, appearance, amenities and the use of Market Square Park. Special emphasis has been given to the renovation and restoration of historic structures.
For information about the current status of DHD, call Paul Homeyer at 713-844-0113.
