Downtown Houston : Framework for the Future

Central Houston, Inc. recently led a year-long effort with an extensive list of allies and constituencies to develop the Downtown Development Framework, an exciting new revitalization plan.
Houstonians who share a desire for a great city have crafted this Framework to embody the many points of view of a diverse and dynamic citizenry. The first Framework, developed ten years ago, guided downtown into its recent renaissance. Today, this update aims to build upon the original Framework’s success to ensure that Houston will not recede into the ranks of second-tier metropolises, but will instead emerge as one of the world’s most respected cities.
Great cities empower their citizens, offering each the opportunity to shape the future and enhance the quality of their lives. Houstonians know the region has reached a crucial point in its development. They expect to have a hand in its future. Perspectives push and pull. Voices come and go. Demands surface and compete. Even so, Houstonians now realize the importance and potential of downtown for Houston and the region.
